How do you store "Hi" with only 0 and 1?

You just learned that a computer only has bits (tiny switches that are 0 or 1). There's no switch shaped like the letter H.

So how does your phone keep a message like "Hi"? The trick is simple and a bit sneaky. Give every letter a number, then store that number in bits.
